Why do I need a principal?

The principal is the company commissioning the newsletter. In the simplest case, this corresponds to the client in which a newsletter is dispatched. However, there are also more complex use cases that require additional principals.

Several principals come into play in the following cases:

Several newsletters

You are dispatching several newsletters that you want to manage separately. The following reasons might apply:

  • separate processes for subscribing and unsubscribing
  • a separate report is required
  • different test mailing lists
  • separate billing

In this case, you can set up different customers – different departments of your company, for example – as principals under Account > Client Management via the button Create new client.

Different customer

You are dispatching newsletters for different customers and want to manage them separately. In this case, you can set up your customers as principals under Account > Client Management via the button Create new client.

Multiple clients

You have a parent client with several sub-clients in which you dispatch campaigns, and you want a clear report that contains all campaigns. In order for these campaigns to be visible as statistics under Campaigns> External in the higher-level parent client, the parent client must be associated with the campaign as principal in the sending client. Up to 5 principals can be defined as a chain.
