How do I send test e-mails and how do I create a test mailing list?
We advise that you send test e-mails before actually dispatching an e-mail. The recipients of the test mailing lists can be viewed and edited via Extras > Settings > > Test delivery list.
Create and edit test mailing list
The list shows all recipients in the current client’s test mailing list in addition to the recipients in the test mailing lists of all subordinate clients. Each test mailing list can be selected separately for a test dispatch. Create a new recipient in the test mailing list by clicking the button “Neue Test-Adresse anlegen” (create new test address).
In the detail view, all recipient data can be entered and edited via the four tabs General, Specific Fields, Address und More. This includes the recipient’s first and last name, gender, address and so on. Special fields set up in the current client and used as a variable in the current e-mail can be assigned values here. In addition, the recipient can be marked as active or inactive in the test mailing list.
If the necessary characteristics (e.g. gender, name) are saved for a test address, the test e-mail can be personalized - by a personal salutation, for example (e.g. “Dear Mr. Miller”).
Send test e-mails
To send a test e-mail, enter the e-mail’s detail view and choose Testmailing. You can send the test e-mail to a previously created test mailing list or to individual addresses.
- To send a test e-mail to all active addresses on a test mailing list, check the checkbox in front of the list.
- In order to add or remove some of the addresses on the test mailing list from this test dispatch, open the test mailing list by clicking on the plus icon. Check or uncheck the addresses in question.
- The buttons default, select all and deselect all allow you to restore the default of active e-mail addresses or to select or deselect the entire test mailing list. This simplifies the selection process, particularly when working with very large test mailing lists.
- To also send a text test version of the e-mail to an address, check the corresponding checkbox. With a multipart MIME message, the recipient will then receive both the HTML and the text version of the e-mail.
- To send the test e-mail to individual e-mail addresses in addition to the test mailing list, enter one or more addresses in the designated field, separated by a comma.
In order to enable the separate dispatch of text versions, the master data must contain the field txt_format. If you are interested in this feature and this is not the case, please contact our support team via the Service Center.
