How do I send test emails, and how do I create a test delivery list?

Before actually dispatching your email, we advise you to start a test delivery. Only then can you really find out how your email appears in the inbox. The recipients for your test distribution list can be viewed and edited at Settings > Test delivery list.

Create and edit test mailing list

The list shows all recipients in the current client’s test delivery list in addition to the recipients in the test delivery lists of all subordinate clients. Each client’s list can be selected separately for a test dispatch. Add a new recipient for the list by clicking the button “Create test address” on the bottom right.

By clicking the green button on the bottom right, create test user, you can create a new test user. In addition, you can import a new test mailing list or export the current test mailing list.

To create a new test user, please insert an email address. In step 2, Insert test user data; you can decide if you want to add all fields existing in your client to make them available as a variable for the test delivery. At this point, you can remove all data fields that you don't need for the test delivery by clicking x. Optionally, you can remove all fields of a record that are empty.

Create test address

Under Identity, all of his or her data can be entered and edited. You can give content to the data fields like first and last name, gender, postal address, and all fields that have been set up in the current client, and they can be used as a variable in the current email. When you go back to the list, the recipient can be marked as active or inactive.

When the necessary attributes (e.g., gender, name) for a test address are saved, you can personalize the test messages. For example, you can address your recipient formally (Dear Mr. Smith, …).

The data fields that are removed are not available for the test mailing. Likewise, the entries under Identity only apply to the test mailing. Nothing has changed in the client's master data!

Send test emails

To start a test delivery go to the detail view of your message (in the list of campaign Drafts) and select the action Testmailing. ou can either send the mailing to your set-up lists or to single email addresses.

  • To send a mailing to all active recipients of a test delivery list, set your checkmark next to the number of the client.
  • In case you want to activate additional addresses in the test delivery list, click on the plus (+) to open the list. Check or uncheck the single addresses.
  • With the tabs Default, Enable all, and Disable all, you can completely reset the activated addresses or enable/disable the entire list.
  • If you want to send a text version of your email to an address, put a check mark next to Send text part separately. Now the address will receive the HTML as well as the text version of a multipart email.
  • If you want to add or only send your test mailing to additional single addresses, enter them separated by a comma in the field. These emails will be unpersonalized due to the lack of user data.

Separate delivery of text versions is not a default feature in promio.connect. If interested, please contact our support team via ticket.
