How can I delete target groups?

Delete auto-target groups and static target groups

You can delete auto-target groups and static target groups under Addresses → Lists → Target groups. Place a checkmark next to the target groups that you want to delete.
Now click on Delete.

Deleting a target group means that it is marked as deleted. Target groups marked as deleted will continue to be visible in promio.connect until they are finally deleted after 6 months. There is also the option in the target group list to show or hide them using the three switches. Display 'not deleted' only, Display 'deleted' only, Display all.

  • Read-only target groups and auto-target groups that are assigned to a newsletter or a block list cannot be deleted. For read-only target groups, the write protection must first be removed.
  • Auto target groups that are assigned to a newsletter or a block list cannot be deleted. If you want to delete such an auto-target group, you have to do this via Addresses > Lists > Newsletter or Block lists.

Target groups marked as deleted are removed from the selection lists. After six months, they will be automatically and permanently deleted following a detailed technical check. The date when the deletion takes place can be displayed in the details of the target group. Until then, you can have the deleted target groups listed under Display 'deleted' only and, if necessary, restore them if they were accidentally deleted.

Delete newsletter and block lists

Newsletters and block lists can be deleted via Addresses > Lists > Newsletter or Block lists. The associated auto-target group, which is located under Addresses → Lists → Target groups, is automatically deleted. When restoring, the associated auto-target group is also made available again.

Delete means that the item is marked as deleted. Elements marked as deleted are still visible in promio.connect, but you can show or hide them using the three switches (Display 'not deleted' only, Display 'deleted' only, Display all). There is no “final” deletion as with other target groups.

  • You can delete a block list whether it is active or not. Before deleting, deactivate the block list so that a logout page (e.g., the system logout page) no longer uses it for logout.

  • You can delete a newsletter whether it is active or not. Before deleting, deactivate the newsletter so that it is no longer displayed on a newsletter management page, for example.

  • After deleting newsletters or block lists, please check the previous workflow when setting up campaigns with regard to the desired unsubscribe procedure!
